The Real Property Division’ s dynamic team of lawyers combine unmatched skill and expertise in advising on all areas of property law in Sri Lanka ranging from advice on property ownership to dealing with the varied rights and interests in property including creation of security interests. The team continues the firm’s unique legacy of advising on acquiring and dealing with property in Sri Lanka since the firm’s inception in 1841 whilst being up to date with changing laws, new laws, regulations and developments in all areas applicable to real estate and advising clients thereon.

The Division’s areas of expertise include: –

• Advising on complex areas of land laws
• Buying and selling of real estate
• Title examination and resolution of title issues
• Security creation in local and cross border project and conventional debt financing transactions over different classes of assets such as land, stock- in – trade, machinery and equipment, shares, receivables, cash in bank accounts and contractual rights under project documents
• Due diligence studies on land including land due diligences to support M & A transactions

• Creation of trusts over land by way of Last Will or Trust Deed

The Real Property Division also advises clients in mixed development projects and condominiums under the Apartment Ownership Law.
